    My mother bought these for my older sisters (there were two originally) from Niemann Marcus (I believe—could have been Marshall Fields) in 1958 because she thought the “Eloise” books from the same era were darling. (I had to later wear them with my next older sister in 1972 and I felt less cute because nobody knew who the heck “Eloise” was)
