    Description

    A #7 SS NORMANDIE envelope with French franking machine cancelled at Le Havre  on Jun 7, 1935 for the westbound Maiden Voyage of the French Line SS NORMANDIE. The ship was seized by the US Navy and was re-named USS LAFAYETTE. She caught fire and capsized pierside in NY on Feb 9, 1942.
    The rear flap is not sealed.
