    Chino Made Japanese Antique Edo Meiji
    A excellent work of  Noh Mask.
    Shunkan. He was the grandson of Murakami Genji Masatoshi,
    a Shingon priest (1143-79) and the head of Hosho-ji Temple.
    He was arrested and exiled to Onikai-gashima Island after being discovered plotting
    to defeat the Taira clan in 1177. After three years of exile, he died at the age of 37.
    The masks depict Toshihiro's despair and exhaustion as he was left alone
    on the island after Naritsune and Taira no Yasuyori, who were also exiled,
    were pardoned and returned to Japan.
    The expression is unique to each school.
